The Yog Element

When you hear the word Yoga, the first image that comes to the mind is of people contorting their bodies in seemingly impossible postures or assumed to be mainly for senior citizens.Yoga today is also commonly referred to as the practise of Asanas or postures.

In truth, Yog according to Shraddha is about the union of a person's own consciousness and the universal consciousness. It is a means to connect with yourself and to reach a state of equanimity and neutrality. And the Asanas or postures are just a means to reach that state and purify yourself. This process of self awareness or Yog is an ancient tradition that dates back 5000 years ago.

Through The Yog Element inititative, Shraddha endeavours to share with people this essence of Yog that is beyond the realm of physical exercises and assist people to lead a wholesome life based on the elements of Yog once they are "off the mat". Shraddha believes that Yog is to be practiced each moment, moment to moment throughout one's life and not just during old age.

The key mission of the Yog Element is to create awareness of YOG within the youth today and to change their perception that Yog is slow and boring. Belonging to the young Indian generation herself, Shraddha is aware that now, more than ever, the youth of today are burdened with tremendous professional and societal pressures leading to loads of stress, bad habits and unhealthy lifestyles. As a practitioner of YOG since 2006 and having herself experienced the ups and downs of the urban Indian youth, Shraddha is uniquely placed to share her understanding of YOG and create awareness of this ancient tradition.
