About Shraddha

Shraddha's early life was that of a typical South Mumbai kid, educated from the Villa Theresa High school, followed by a degree from HR College of Commerce. Jumping on to the bandwagon of making it 'big'; Shraddha dabbled in various fields like jewelry design, corporate gifting as well as film production for 3 years under Ad Guru Prahlad Kakkar. When she was just 22, at the peak of her successful career in ad film production, Shraddha attended a Vipassana course, to de-stress. But, during the 10-days of silent meditation, Shraddha had an epiphany of her true calling and purpose in this lifetime; to practice and share the ancient wisdom of Yog with others. Her first step to the journey, was becoming a full time student of Yog under her first guru, Shri Jawahar Bangera. She gained a deep understanding about asanas and alignment. In her own words, she then "took to Yog, like a fish to water".

To pursue her intense desire to teach, Shraddha completed the teacher's training course from the acclaimed Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantri Ashram in Kerala in 2007 thirst for deeper knowledge and understanding of the principles of Yog brought her to the feet of the world renowned YogAcharya, Late. Shri BKS Iyengar in Pune in 2011. Shraddha also got the opportunity to study Yog under the able guidance of Prashant Ji and Geeta Ji at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute. Today, she teaches at the Shriyog Institute along with her mentor and guide, Rajashree Tupe.

Shraddha's method of teaching has developed and deepened over the years. She blends the physical yog asanas and the meditative aspects of Vipassana into one holistic practice. She emphasizes that breath awareness, is as integral a part as the correct alignment, in asanas. Breath awareness takes the practitioner to the present moment and leads to a feeling of equanimity.

"Learning to remain neutral both during asana practice and in everyday life is key.

This experience of neutrality is actually Yog", she says.
